The Ferndale Repertory Theatre is pleased to bring to our stage the 50s rock 'n' roll musical, Grease, by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. Our five-week run begins with the Preview performance, Thursday, July 25 at 8:00pm; all tickets are $10. Performances continue every Friday and Saturday evening at 8:00pm through Friday, August 23 with matinees at 2:00pm on Sundays, August 4, 11, 18 and ending with our matinee, Saturday, August 25. Thursday, August 22 is designated as the Actor's Benefit Night; all proceeds from that night go to our hard-working cast and crew. All tickets are $15. Originally staged as a five-hour amateur production in a Chicago trolley barn, it went on to Broadway, enjoying an eight-year run making it one of America's most popular musicals. Grease takes a satirical look at the dress, manners, morals, and music of teenagers at the beginning of the rock 'n' roll era.
It's 1959 and Rydell High is filled with rebellious, thrill-loving students. In the midst of this scene is wholesome, Sandy Dumbrowski, new student at school, and hip leader of the Burger Palace Boys gang, "Greaser" Danny Zuko, who resolve their problems of their mutual attraction while the gang sings and dances their way through such nostalgic settings as the pajama party, the prom, the burger palace and the drive-in movie.
Director, Desmond Mosley, and Musical Director, Elisa Woodruff, have assembled a strong, talented cast to play the gum chewing, wisecracking teens of Rydell High. Jessica Osborne and Tito Ross play the leads, Sandy and Danny, with Amber Salisbury-Bryan and David Hamilton as Rizzo and Kenichi. The lively teen cast includes: Jenna Tronti, Bridget Fenner, Cristine Alley, Genay Lebeuf, Lori Regalo, Laureen Tipple, Derek Mendes, James Dunlap, Daniel Marcus, Brandon Williams, and Halsey Demant. Also appearing are Marilyn Fletcher, Courtney Roberts, Jonathon Narloch, and Dave Narloch. The creative production team is composed of Harper Mosley (Choreographer), Joe Collins (Set), Dan Mullins (Lights), Marcia Hutson (Costumes), Derek Mendes (Sound) and Lori Regalo (Dance Captain). Stage Management is in the capable hands of Wanda Stapp, with assistance from Chris Ayers and Norma Lynch. The band is comprised of the musical talents of Justin Ross on keyboards, Jesse Morris on guitar, Bill Henry on bass.
In concert with the Opening Night of Grease on July 25, the Rep's art gallery, Art from the Hart, will hold a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception at 6:30 pm for local Ferndale artist, Joan Katri, whose paintings will be on display throughout the run of the show.
