This deliciously goofy musical tells the tale of The Plaids, a 1950s male
singing group who were killed on their way to their first big gig.
Miraculously, they come back to earth for a chance to fulfill their dreams
of fame and fortune - albeit, posthumously. This musical review features
some great songs of the 1950s: "Catch a Falling Star," "Three Coins in the
Fountain," "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing," "Magic Moments," among many,
many others.
Guest director, Claire Yarrington, from the California Theatre Arts in
Walnut Creek, is also the play's vocal coach and choreographer. She has
chosen four outstanding young men to play the roles: Gavin Donnellan
(Smudge), Leo Roehrich (Frankie), David West (Sparky), and Branden Williams
(Jinx). Design team is: Daniel L. Lawrence (set), Jesse Talbert (lights),
Beth Lanzi (costumes), and Gabriel Groom (sound). The music is played by
well-known pianist John Raczka.
Singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest
intonations, the Plaids are a guaranteed smash with a series of well-loved
songs and right-on patter that keep audiences laughing when they aren't
humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the '50s. Join us
for a great evening of musical theatre. Call (707) 786-5483 for tickets and
reservations.
