The Ferndale Repertory Theatre kicks off the holidays with The World Of Willy Wonka. Gala Opening Night is Friday, November 26 at 8:00P.M. A reception for gallery artists Empired Squared precedes the performance in the Art From the Hart gallery in the theatre's Box Office at 6:30P.M. until performance time. Performances continue every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00P.M. through December 17. The last two performances are MATINEES ONLY - Saturday, December 18 at 2:00P.M. and December 19 at 2:00P.M. Ticket prices are $12 (general) and $10 (students & seniors). Thursday, December 16, is our Actor's Benefit Night where proceeds from the evening's show go to our hard-working cast and crew. There are three benefit performances: December 5 matinee for Mattole Elementary School, December 12 matinee for Fortuna Middle School, and December 17 at 8 P.M. for Fortuna Safe & Sober. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, the production is directed by Vikki Young, with choreography by Jess Pillmore, set design by Daniel L. Lawrence, costume design by Denise Ryles, and light design by Jesse Talbert. Piano accompaniment is by Justin Ross, and stage management is by Kelsey Wortman. In this beloved classic, Willy Wonka has held a contest to select five golden ticket winners to tour his Chocolate Factory. An astonishing journey begins when the young winners assemble at the factory gates. Once inside, the four lucky children succumb to temptations expressly forbidden them by the zany and slightly maniacal Willy Wonka. The fantastical factory workers, the Oompa-Loompas, echo their outrageous and ghastly fates in rhyme. In the end, Charlie stands alone to inherit rewards beyond his comprehension.
Director Young has assembled a wonderful cast. Turner Bazen plays the Candy Man, Willy Wonka. Jared Basquez takes on the role of Charlie Bucket with Bob Clark as Charlie's Grandpa Joe. Finders of the Golden Tickets are Augustus Gloop (Lucas Wennerholm), Veruca Salt (Derby McLaughlin), Violet Beauregarde (Rebecca Davis), and Mike Teavee (Kyle Ambrosini). The Oompa Loompas are: Rebecca Forcier, Riley Foster, Kassie Rosell, Louis Sterback, Kelsey Wortman, Marisa Wright, Trevor Ambrosini, Haylee Duey, Selena Reveles, Elizabeth Tsarnas, Brittany Ybarra, Selena Ybarra, Faith Maciel, Maya Schubert, Rebecca Thompson, and Timothy Ward.
