The Ferndale Repertory Theatre's 13th Annual All Teen Production laughs it up with the classic, comedic farce, Charley's Aunt. Written by Brandon Thomas, Charley's Aunt was an immediate popular and critical success after its premiere in 1892, and it has survived and remained just as funny for a hundred years.
Humboldt County teens make up the cast of this endearing comedy. Directed by Vikki Young, Charley's Aunt begins March 9 and runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8PM, with a closing matinee, Sunday, March 19 at 2PM. There are seven performances only.
Jack loves Kitty and Charley loves Amy and both need a chaperone for an urgent tete-á-tete. They are relying on the imminent arrival of Donna Lucia d'Alvadorez, Charley's rich aunt from Brazil but their plans are thrown into confusion when she is delayed. Desperate, the boys come up with a "scheme" involving a deliciously absurd masquerade. Hilarious complications soon ensue, especially when the real Donna Lucia arrives unexpectedly...Can two "rich aunts" be worse than one?
This timeless classic features a wonderful cast from all over the county: Kyle Ambrosini (Charley), Kristopher Buihner (Sir Frances), Sam Cord (Jack), Brittany Gonzalas (Kitty), Kelly Hughes (Amy), Kelsey Larson (Ela), Evan Needham (Lord Fancort Babberly), Ethan Vaughan (Brassett & Spettigue), and Molly Wixson (Donna Lucia). Emma Buschmann is Stage Manager. Design team is Daniel L. Lawrence (set & lights), Holly Hess (costumes), Vikki Young (sound & poster), and Dan Tubbs (photography).
Charley's Aunt is a world famous farce that has moved millions to tears of laughter. Be prepared to laugh 'til you ache! We want to thank the sponsor of this production, The Bertha Russ Lytel Foundation.
