Some Enchanted Evening

The Ferndale Repertory Theatre is proud to present Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein. Performances begin May 18 at 8:00pm with a Preview; all tickets for the Preview performance only are $10. The Gala Opening is Friday, May 19 at 8:00pm. In conjunction with the opening is a reception at 6:30pm for the artists featured in the Art from the Hart Gallery. Performances continue every Friday and Saturday night at 8:00pm through Friday, June 9. Thursday, June 8, is the Actor's Benefit Night, where all proceeds go to the hard working cast and crew. There are four matinees at 2:00pm: May 28th, June 4th,10th, and 11th. Please note that there is NO evening performance on Saturday, June 10th. Director Carol Martinez, musical & vocal director Nanette Voss, and choreographer Loene Gossett are very happy with their chosen cast. Some Enchanted Evening will feature five top Humboldt County singers: Chyna Dale, Sarah Godell, Jordan Matteoli, Evan Needham, and Mindy Willers. Backing the singers up with live music is Wally Cooper on piano and Bill Andrews on bass. Designers include Daniel Lawrence (set), David Kenworthy (lights & sound), and Dianna Thiel (costume). Jennifer Stannard and Emily Martinez co-stage manage.

The production includes songs from classics such as The Sound of Music, The King and I, Oklahoma!, Flower Drum Song, and South Pacific. Some Enchanted Evening is an evening of sparkling entertainment -- romantic, amusing, poignant and, yes, enchanting! Rodgers and Hammerstein penned some of Broadway's most enduring masterpieces making this musical revue a show of classic American musical theatre. The stunning collection of compositions offers the performers an opportunity to explore the songs within their own styles and sensibilities, and offers the audience a glorious parade of genuine hits that have become a part of lives. In the first act, the performers are seen "backstage," where the songs are used as dialogue and explore the relationships between the personalities. In the second act, the singers perform individually on stage, eventually coming together for a grand celebration of Rodgers and Hammerstein classics.
