TWELVE ANGRY MENA young delinquent awaits sentencing for the alleged "murder" of his aggressive father. When the trial's twelve jurors are corralled in the deliberation room after having listened to three days of courtroom testimony, what seems like an open-and-shut case becomes a twisted puzzle of prejudice and intrigue. There is no quick verdict. During the heated deliberations, each juror exposes, and must face, the hidden preconceptions and assumptions coloring his view of the case. Twelve Angry Men was first produced for television, broadcast on the CBS program Studio One in 1954. In 1957 it was remade as a Hollywood film, directed by Sidney Lumet, and with an all-star cast that included Henry Fonda, Lee J Cobb, Ed Begley, John Fiedler, E.G. Marshall, Jack Warden, Ed Binns, Martin Balsam, Jack Klugman, George Voskovec, Robert Webber, and Joseph Sweeney. The film was nominated for 4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (but ultimately lost out to Bridge on the River Kwai, which garnered 7 awards that year). The play addresses issues of prejudice and justice that still resonate today. Director Gene Cole has assembled a great ensemble of talented actors from across Humboldt county to play the twelve jurors: including Bob Clark, Sam Cord, Tom Conlon, Bill Cose, Dave Fuller, Victor Howard, Albert Martinez, Mark McBrown, David Moore, Evan Needham, Elsworth Pence, and Arnold Waddel. Lexus Landry and Gene Cole take on supporting roles.
The creative team for Twelve Angry Men includes Gene Cole (Director & Set Design), Gary Franklin (Light Design), Marshall Pearce (Sound Design), Vicki Charlton (Costume Design), Bruce Keller (Scenic Painting), Terry Adams (Stage Management), and Dan Tubbs (Poster Design & Photography). |
