The Ferndale Repertory Theatre’s 36th Anniversary holiday production of Charlotte's Web is based on the children's classic by E.B.White. Written in 1952 and a Newberry Honor award winner, this story of loyalty and the true meaning of friendship has had a huge impact on millions of readers spanning three generations. Charlotte the spider, though small in stature, has a big heart that leads her friend Wilbur the pig to understand and accept his place in the world. A little girl named Fern loves Wilbur, too, and along with a less-lovable rat known as Templeton, and a barnyard full of lively farm animals a story is woven which is as full of strength and as delicately magical as a web itself. It is the story of a pig, a girl, and a spider who teach us about humility, trust, the power of helping others, and the delicate nature of friendship. It also reveals how the lives of those we love will end someday, but that life regenerates with zealous beauty through spirit and one's offspring.

A study guide, appropriate for grades K-4, is available.

The production team includes 27 talented actors from all over Humboldt County: Harmony Birch and Mariah Bruce trade off nightly as Wilber’s savior, Fern, Alyssa Murray and Albert Martinez play Fern’s parents, Martha and John Arabel, and Jasper Bernstein is Fern’s brother, Avery. Edith and Homer Zuckerman, Fern’s aunt and uncle, are played by Mary Caswell and Gene Cole, and Meghan Walsh is Lurvy, the hired hand. In the barn: Wilber is Denim Ohmit, Charlotte is Nicole Cowan, Templeton is Rachel Cardoza. Jeanette Sousa is Sheep with her three baby Lambs: Kahvi Garrett, Dori DeNisi, and River Murray; Christie Mueller plays the Goose and Steve Sousa is Gander, and Uncle is Duante Arriago. Charlotte’s babies are: Hannah LoBue-Deshais and Anja Tjaden. The story is tied together with a trio of Narrators who are double cast and trade nightly: Gaia DeNisi, Delaney Rice, and Abbey Gans make one trio, and Haley Duey, Abigail Caswell, and Serene LoBue-Deshais form the other. Additional ensemble members include Xochitl Fregoso and Wesley Fuller.

The creative team for Charlotte’s Web includes Carol Martinez (Director), Emily Martinez and Jennifer Stannard (Production Stage Managers), Gary Franklin (Scenic, Light & Sound Designer), Vikki Young (Costume Designer), Bruce Keller (Scenic Painting), Kimberli Hudson (Properties), Johanna Hembry (Poster Design), and H.R LoBue (Lobby & PR Photography).
