Volunteer

There are other ways to volunteer that are not connected with specific shows. Maybe there's a place for you in one of these ways:

  • Join the Board of Directors or one of its committees. The Board meets once per month, and each Director takes on other special assignments according to his or her interests. The Board has special committees that take on specific projects, and community members are welcome (and wanted!) on the following committees: Fundraising, RepFest, Facilities, Advertising & Promotion, Nominations, Personnel.

  • Assist with "Front of House" as a House Manager, Ticket Seller, Concessions Seller, Ticket Taker, Usher or Gallery Sitter for a performance. As an added benefit, front of house volunteers see the show for free!

  • In the Gallery. We hang 7 shows each year in the Art From the Hart gallery. Help us to find suitable artists, hang and take down the shows, prepare the publicity, host an opening night reception, or build and manage our sales inventory.

  • In the Costume and Scene Shops. The Ferndale Rep has our areas largest collections of set & costume materials housed in separate scenic and costume shops. We regularly get new items and have to manage our inventory in limited space. Help us to sort, clean and care for costumes. Help us to organize the scene shop and property loft.

  • In the Office. There is often office work to be done, including preparing documents like newsletters and volunteer listings, processing mailings, maintaining databases, managing our publicity information on the internet, and so on.

Volunteer of the Year

The Ferndale Repertory Theatre proudly announced its “Volunteer of the Year” for the 2007-8 season at its Annual Meeting on Sunday, October 19, 2008. Nanette Heidtman and Pamela Bellah were chosen by the Board of Directors for their outstanding service during the past year.

Volunteers are the non-profit’s lifeblood, and Nanette Heidtman served as The Rep's Volunteer Coordinator for the season. She recruited a large number of new front-of-house volunteers, and developed orientation and training materials for each of the key front-of-house functions. Sge brought great energy, enthusiasm, thoroughness and organizational skill to this huge task. Thank you Nan!

Fundraising is another critical role for Rep volunteers, and Pamela Bellah was a star in this area. After participating in our first RepFest in 2007, she acted as RepFest Chair for 2008, helping us to put on a great event that raised $18,000 to support the theatre. Pamela and her husband, Dr. Jack Bellah, have also been very generous donors in their own right. Thank you Pam!
